Missing periods (amenorrhea)
If you are wondering where your period is (and you are not pre-pubescent, pregnant, or post-menopausal) then this should be investigated. Your menstrual cycle is considered to be the 5th vital sign and any absent bleeding for more than 3 months is considered abnormal.

Irregular periods
Do you never really know when your period might show up? Or they can be 20 days one month, and 40 days the next?

Painful periods
If you have periods that are painful enough to:
Stop you leaving the house for school or work or just your day to day
You have to take medication for the pain and sometimes even this will not improve the feeling
You vomit with the pain
Then this is not a normal period and you should receive an investigation as to why you are experiencing this. I am here to support you.

If your signs and symptoms, physically or mentally, impact your life before the start of your period then this is not normal and you deserve to have this investigated.
If you feel like the rage, frustration, and irritability you feel are disproportionate to the surroundings?
Migraines or headaches that occur before most periods and impact your ability to live your life.
Bloating that makes you feel uncomfortable and is pronounced so that clothes do not feel comfortable
